Broadcasting

The essence of this policy will be based on all 7 principles of Awareness Party.

We need to consider whether broadcasters and journalists are really applying the statement, “the freedom of the press’, or whether financial and government interests are interfering with what is presented to us. This is a vital issue. Currently we are fed a diet of murders and negative news, none of which makes us aware of the world’s deepest issues, nor the very positive solutions that are being created.

We need to be aware that business interests interfere and even corrupt real democratic discussion and decisions Here is an example of BBC interference though manipulating the reporting. (Click on the images)

There needs to be a HUGE reduction of violence on television. Copy cat crime is real.

Advertising controls need to be increased. For example, fresh fruit and vegetables are rarely advertised, so we have a society that eat unhealthy processed foods, because the media tells them to.

Words Matter: How Media Can Build Civility or Destroy It. The media can choose to provoke the least stable, most trigger-happy sectors of the population. Or it can  strengthen democracy, civility, and the rule of law.

The Green Party have a reasonably considered document here

We will create our own policy as soon as possible.
