Letter to DHB

Councillors have a responsibility to uphold the basic Human Rights of the people they represent to choose what medication they and their family wish to take, and not have it enforced through their water supply.”

Dear Sir / Madam,
I have serious concerns about the mass medication of the population, with fluoride. People might take fluoride tablets and follow instructions about the recommended dose, but to add it like a medication to water is totally irresponsible! How can you regulate the amount of water a person has in a day? If we water our lettuces and water melons in the garden with it, we get a greater dose than those who have products grown in the country. If we re-boil the kettle several times, we receive more fluoride than a person drinking cold water, because the fluoride concentrates when it boils! If we play sport, we drink more water than our sedentary friends!
Where else are people of all sizes shapes ages and health subjected to a ‘one size fits all’ form of medicine?
In New Zealand, bottle fed babies that drink formula made with tap water receive 200 times the amount that a breast fed baby receives. Considering that fact, who do you think is the expert on what a child needs – mother- nature or the District Health Board?
Almost all of Western Europe has rejected fluoride, and here are some of the reasons. As well as the strongly proven problem of dental fluorosis, fluoride has been linked to lowered IQ; bone cancer in young men; arthritis; ADHD; thyroid disease, lowered immune disease, and severe allergic reactions.
If only one of the above was true then that should be enough to ban fluoride outright, but there are a lot of connections appearing, and bureaucrats are not listening to science, because they want to save face.
You may be unaware that the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has never approved fluoride to be safe. Just because it is a naturally occurring substance, does not make it safe, as with arsenic. (In fact fluoride is slightly more toxic than lead, and slightly less toxic than arsenic!) With all the protests from the general population against the spiking of their water, one would think that the FDA would have approved it if it actually is safe.
There is a difference between food grade fluoride that is in our toothpaste and what is put in our water.  The fluoride in our water supply is the waste from fertilizer plants with all its associated toxins!
It could be said that, as fluoride applied topically to teeth does help with tooth decay, one could possibly give fluoride an applause for reducing tooth decay in the population, however Dr Paul Connett, who has been touring the country recently, has uncovered the fact that tooth decay is declining in both fluoridated and un-fluoridated areas worldwide. (See his book, “The Case Against Fluoride”.)
I am requesting that the Auckland District Health Board removes this toxic waste from our water. There is no proof that fluoride taken internally is of benefit to our teeth. The ‘evidence’ is only anecdotal.
The latest (Australian 2004) study showed NO benefit to permanent teeth from fluoridated water!
As a Health Board, it is your job to keep us safe from harm, and as the proof becomes unable to be ignored, the general population will not only be demanding accountability, we will be demanding compensation.

Yours Sincerely
