Ki Ora Community Visioning & Action Planning Process – 13 September, 2012 – Work in progress.
This web page may only have total relevance to those who were at the meeting on September 13th,
however we hope to have others in Auckland join us, and those elsewhere may like to see what we have been doing.
The views expressed here are those of the people who have come to our meetings and are not necessarily one hundred per cent those of The Awareness Party.
The Awareness Party came up with the following vision inspired by some process models from Peter Goldsbury’s Living Systems Thinking, and Barbara Marx Hubbard’s Hub process as outlined on the wheel of co-creation (pictured).
By combining these, Sally Mabelle has invited members to work together to find solutions by a backcasting process – creating the vision and then working backwards to see what steps are required to get to the goal.
Seven subjects out of the possible twelve were selected by participants. The topics chosen were:
Education; Environment: Health: Infrastructure; Relations and Sprituality.
(The other five areas still to be addressed are Government, Justice, Arts, Economics, Science,)
Below are the results of the hour and a half process – and that will be refined in the future to become a vision for the future.
nb: we are taking the Maori greeting Ki Ora as meaning ‘to wellbeing’ –
so our ‘Ora‘ statement is a vision of what wellbeing looks like in New Zealand

Equity/levelling of incomes:
Maximum income ratio of 1:5 (Plato’s was 1:6)
We discussed ways of levelling here, including financial transaction tax, investment tax, resource use tax & land tax
UN Covenants of Human Rights in 1970’s states that we have a human right to have equity in society
Freedom from debt slavery

Science visioning & action planning:
Outcomes:
Young people have an integrative, connecting, & synthesising attitude
Young people’s innate sensitivity and spiritual awareness remains intact and is nurtured
People and science is not just focused on self-interest (or corporate self-interest) but on caring about the greater good and welfare of others.
Science is moving towards spirituality and accepts a balanced, holistic world view that honours consciousness as a reality as much as matter.
Indicators:
We are actively encouraging and educating spiritual awareness and sensitivity in young people as a corrective to the vacuum of meaning that leads many to suicide.
People are going to universities and studying integrative science and holistic living (instead of going to zen monasteries)
There are programs in schools on ‘consciousness studies’ integrated with the scientific method.
Projects:
The best and most relevant results from the Institute of Noetic Sciences and the Heart Math Institute are being brought to schools in an exciting and interesting way.
JUSTICE
Outcomes:
Prison becomes unnecessary – instead, restorative justice where
offenders are seen and treated as ‘victims’ themselves…seen not as ‘bad’ men
but as men who have done ‘bad’ things. Self responsibility is taught.
It is realised that an agreement has been entered into between ‘perpetrator’ and ‘victim’.
Indicators:
Prisons are drug-free
Families are able to be together more which decreases chances of re-offending, for non violent offenders
example: granting conjugal rights as a reward for good behaviour.
Prison numbers are reducing
Cases are brought forward in a more timely manner (currently sometimes cases can wait for years before being brought to court)
Projects:
Meditation, Psych-K, and other alternative processes are taught in prisons.
