The Awareness Party (TAP) in brief:

The Awareness Party –‘ TAP’ is about ‘turning you on to politics’!

The Awareness Party acknowledges that we are all connected, and that Gaia is a living system! It is based on 7 ethical principles that represent a foundation for the party, for business or any institution that should choose to use them.

In the past, government was religious; then secular; and now we need to correct the balance by including a ‘conscious’ foundation on which to base our political and economic systems.

The application of the first principle, ‘oneness’, to all policies means that we accept that all people are one energy – that of humanity. We accept that no one human is more valuable than another. It means that no one race colour or creed has dominance over another, here or anywhere. This is considered to be an unshakable fact. When applied, this one principle will make a difference to every policy that we develop.

The main focus of the Awareness Party is to move the human race away from possible extinction, because that is where the human race is heading, closer every day, and humanity is burying its collective head in the sand saying, “She’ll be right!”.

The way to move forwards is through:

  1. Sustainability and environmentalism.
  2. Fewer extremes between rich and poor.
  3. Non violence in all circumstances.
  4. New structures of government, governance, economics and trade.
  5. Encouraging community and decentralisation

These can be expressed through various policies that will be developed but include

a) The country will work together to create a vision that will be held by a council of elders, or upper house, so that all policy will have to  be held accountable to that vision, whatever party is in government.

b)  The three year election cycle will be abolished and a four or five year one will replace it. Binding Citizens Initiated Referendums will be encouraged on any controversial issues.

c)   Organic and biodynamic farming

d)  Funding an outstandingly innovative education system – that is supportive of both students and teachers

e)   Non violent communication will be taught in all schools and will be funded so as to be able to be used right through the community.

f)   The Awareness Party promotes decentralisation and community living where ever possible. Local food production will be at the centre of this. We will create initiatives to actively involve people in local community activities and government and ‘people power’ initiatives.

TAP is dedicated to promoting positivity and so will couch its communications in positive terms: eg

-The Awareness Party applauds New Zealanders who have stood for national parks free of mining.

-The Awareness Party is keen to see New Zealand’s beaches available to all for recreation or conservation.

-The Awareness Party supports all moves to keep water, and other government owned assets in the hands of public institutions and not private profiteers.

The Awareness Party is keen to see honesty, openness, and accountability from our political figures and all leaders.
